We cant even begin to adequatly thank the village of fantastic friends that it took to pull everything together!
It coudn't have been more perfect. It was fun. The drinks were tasty and plentiful. The weather cooperated, mostly. Our Mammas were adorable and proud. We got tangled in a web of party streamers - super fun. But the most overwhelming thing was the number of people who turned out. Oh some of them hadn't responded and some who had didn't show, but the crowd was perfect and amazing and we have never felt so loved on. We stood there on that altar (AKA the porch), I looked out, and saw a mass of great looking folks who had all come to cheer us on, shower us with well wishes and make heart-felt (some raunchy - some not) toasts. Us! Crazy.
All the while standing by the guy that has been my ride-or-die for thirty years. My gosh he looked handsome.
Mami Ogata Driscoll, I've met some pretty amazing floral talent in my day, but you lady continually knock my socks of - I love you. Sally Boyd, your freindship and energy (that I make fun of all the time) are more well appreciated than you could possibly imagine. Megan Bruce Lucas, you and Joe are more than I deserve and you lending your planning talents to this effort kept me sane (mostly - acheivable goals - LOL). Oh my sweet Yvette Audrain McKinney, cohort and sexy kitten friend of so many years now, your friendship and talent for amazing stationery and printed pieces is more that I could ever have hoped for. Chef Christopher Johnson, my secret culinary weapon - thanks for putting up with me, you gotta admit those shots of soup with miniature grilled cheese were pretty epic! Reverend Doctor Gary Kindley, the perfect person to address a crowd of so many varied faith traditions and not only make them comfortable in such a non-traditional setting, but make them laugh and cry a little. Scardello Artisan Cheese and owner Richard - don't leave home without him! #stinkycheeseisthebest Greg Blomberg, who I just got to meet during all of this, has an amazing "bride-side" personality and the pics are amazing. Randy Allen Davis, who I've weathered a few storms with, SO great to have your production experience on-site not to mention just to be able to look over and see your face. Jack Armstrong and Cade Nelson Armstrong - just ever so supoprtive (I think Jack predates even Steve?) and also great friends!!
